Miss International is the 3rd Grandslam pageant. Indonesia has sent contestants since 1960. But due to permission from the President and Government, Indonesia has withdraw for more than 30 years in this pageant. The first pageant ever in Indonesia which choose the delegates to this contest was Miss Java on 1960 and 1968. And on 1969 the founder of Beauty Salon "Andy's Beauty", Mrs. Andi Nurhayati took off the franchise and create "Putri Nusantara Indonesia". After withdrawn from 1978 to 2006, the franchise holder for Miss Indonesia Universe Yayasan Puteri Indonesia or well known by a pageant called Puteri Indonesia took over the franchise and send its 1st runner up to Miss International Pageant.
